During the COVID-19 lockdown I was talking with an administrator at my high school and he mentioned their trouble finding a COVID-19 screening system that complied with the states regulations, was cost effective, and integrated with their existing tools. That's when I asked "What if I built one?" I then spent the next few days deciding how to build such a system, writing the code and doing initial testing. Once I had a working prototype, I emailed that administrator and asked him to check it out. He really liked it. After a few more rounds of testing with a group of a few students and staff I had built a deployable system. One that served throughout the 2020-2021 school year.Â
The system sent out daily questionnaires regarding COVID-19 symptoms, issues "boarding passes" for those who reported no symptoms and served notices to those who did. It also compiled reports and sent information to school security.
